The MK16 MOD 9 assembly is the basic and most often used stand configuration for mounting most conventional small arm weapons on shipboard platforms. The assembly consists of two main parts, the MK16 MOD 9 stand and the tripod. The stand can be mounted independent of the tripod as well.
Various stops, adaptors, and stow lock hardware are used in conjunction with the MK16 MOD 9 stand.
Most Army, Navy, and Marine small arms mounts are secured through use of a pintle, or shaft that is fixed to the bottom of the mounts yet pivots in its corresponding stand. Typically the Army uses a small pintle while the Navy uses a large pintle. |
